What is “intumescent”?
FM- 900 is tested and passed with the PSB.
As part of complete intumescent system, it provides up to 2 hours of fire-resistance to structural steel with smooth surface.
Fm-900 is an intumescent mastic coating, which begins to react to the rising temperature, when it reaches 200 degree C and gradually forms a cake-like char layer approximately hundred fold of initial volume.
The char layer can insulate conduction of heat so as to slow down the time that steel to reach limited temperature (500 degree C) thus achieves the purpose of protecting steel structure.
